An eSIM is a digital SIM card embedded within your mobile device, eliminating the need for a physical SIM card. This article presents the devices that support eSIM and explains the technology behind it.
What is eSIM?
eSIM is a digital SIM card embedded within a device, such as a smartphone or smartwatch. Unlike a physical SIM card, there is no need to remove or insert an eSIM into the device. Instead, the eSIM is programmed to connect to network service providers. eSIMs use a technology called Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) to download SIM card data to the device. This technology allows users to switch network providers without the need to physically change the SIM card. With eSIM, users can add multiple numbers to their device, switch between them as needed, and avoid the hassle of carrying and inserting physical SIM cards.

Note: eSIM support is only available in certain regions. To verify if your OnePlus device supports eSIM, please contact your service provider or device manufacturer. You can also check directly on OnePlus devices – to check if your device supports eSIM, go to [Settings] > [SIM card and mobile data]. If the option “Manage eSIM card” does not appear, your device does not support eSIM.
Exceptional Devices that Do Not Support eSIM:
- Carrier-locked phones
- iPhone XR, XS, and 11 models purchased in Hong Kong, Macau, and China
- iPhones with 2 physical SIM cards
- Pixel 3 devices purchased in Australia, Japan, Taiwan
- Pixel 3 devices purchased in Southeast Asia
- All Samsung S20 FE/S21 FE models
- US versions of S20/S21 and Galaxy Flip 5G
- US and Hong Kong versions of Samsung Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2
- Huawei P40 Pro Plus
eSIM availability on the Galaxy A54 5G may vary by country/region and provider. Please contact your provider or device manufacturer to ensure your Galaxy A54 5G supports eSIM.
