In India, eSIM works on the OnePlus 15, the OnePlus 13 and the OnePlus Open. It does not work on the OnePlus 13R, 12R or most Nord models, and reports for the OnePlus 12 and 11 are negative. OnePlus 15: eSIM and dual eSIM in India
The OnePlus 15 is the safest OnePlus choice for eSIM in India. It launched in India in November 2025, and Beebom reported in July 2026 that a software update (OxygenOS 16.0.9.400) appears to have enabled dual eSIM. That means two eSIM profiles, such as one from Jio and one from Vi, can be active at once with the physical SIM slot left empty. The report comes from a OnePlus Community post, and the update’s changelog did not mention it, so check our dual eSIM guide and test on your own phone.
OnePlus 13: works, with one trade-off
Owners in India report that the OnePlus 13 supports eSIM out of the box, and one uses it with a Jio eSIM. In a hands-on check of the Indian model, the eSIM worked alongside physical SIM 1, but SIM 2 was disabled while the eSIM was on. So you can combine one physical SIM with one eSIM, not two physical SIMs plus an eSIM.
Carrier provisioning can still vary. One Airtel customer posted that Airtel told them the OnePlus 13 was not eligible, while another converted successfully in the Mumbai circle. If a carrier refuses, try again through the carrier’s app or ask for escalation.
OnePlus Open: enabled by an update
The OnePlus Open shipped with eSIM hardware, but eSIM was not active in India at first. OnePlus enabled it in India with an OxygenOS 13.2 update in late 2023, so make sure the phone is fully updated.
OnePlus 13R, 12R and older models
The OnePlus 12R is listed as dual nano-SIM only. For the OnePlus 13R, an Indian owner used a diagnostic app to show eSIM hardware but found no eSIM option in Settings, which means OnePlus has switched it off in software for India. Another owner also reported that the 13R has no eSIM. For the OnePlus 12 and 11, owners on the OnePlus Community reported that eSIM did not work on Indian units, even though OnePlus’s India spec page listed it for the 12. Firmware can change this, so check your own phone.
How to check if your OnePlus supports eSIM
- Dial *#06# on your phone. If a 32-digit EID appears next to the IMEI, the phone has eSIM hardware.
- Open Settings > Mobile Network > eSIM (Airtel’s official steps for OnePlus use this path). On some versions, look for Settings > SIM card and mobile data > Manage eSIM card.
- If no eSIM option appears, update OxygenOS, restart and check again.
- An EID alone does not guarantee that the option is enabled or that your carrier will provision it, so check with Jio, Airtel or Vi.
How to activate eSIM on a OnePlus phone in India
Request the eSIM in your carrier’s app, verify with the OTP and confirmation call, then download the profile. On a OnePlus, Airtel’s official steps are: connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, go to Settings > Mobile Network > eSIM, turn on the eSIM switch and follow the prompts. Why OnePlus eSIM support in India differs from other countries
OnePlus sells regional versions of the same phone, and the eSIM feature is switched on or off per region and per software build. A global review saying a model supports eSIM does not prove your Indian unit does. This is why the OnePlus 13 works in India while the 13R does not, and why some phones gained eSIM only after an update.
