Only some Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones support eSIM in India. Xiaomi India’s own spec pages confirm it on the Xiaomi 17 and the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, and GSMArena lists it on the Redmi Note 14 Pro series and the Poco X7, though Xiaomi India’s own page for the Note 14 Pro series doesn’t mention eSIM at all. The Redmi Note 15 Pro (without the Plus), the Poco X7 Pro and the Poco F7 don’t have it.

Xiaomi sells so many handsets in India that eSIM support is easy to get wrong. The same model name can mean two different phones, one for India and one for the global market, and Xiaomi sells them as seperate products with different specifications. This guide goes model by model, says where a claim is confirmed by Xiaomi and where it only comes from a spec database or a retailer, and then walks you through the Jio, Airtel and Vi steps.
Which Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones support eSIM in India?
The table below sorts the popular models by what the sources actually say. Where the evidence is thin, it says so.
| Model | eSIM in India? | What the source says |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 17 | Yes | Xiaomi India’s own spec page for the handset sold here lists ‘Dual SIM, eSIM support’ directly |
| Xiaomi 15 Ultra | Yes (listed) | GSMArena lists Nano-SIM and eSIM options, two active at a time |
| Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G (India) | Yes (sources disagree) | GSMArena’s India page lists Nano-SIM plus eSIM, but Xiaomi India’s own spec page says only ‘Dual Nano’ with no eSIM mentioned |
| Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (India) | Yes (sources disagree) | Same as above: GSMArena says Nano-SIM plus eSIM, Xiaomi India’s own page says ‘Dual Nano’ only |
| Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G (India) | Yes | Xiaomi India’s own spec page spells it out: ‘Dual SIM (nano SIM + nano SIM or nano SIM + eSIM)’ |
| Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G (India) | No | Xiaomi India’s own spec page says only ‘Dual Sim’, with no eSIM option listed; a retail listing claims eSIM, but we’re going with Xiaomi’s own page |
| Poco X7 | Yes | Xiaomi’s support page says it supports eSIM |
| Poco X7 Pro | No | Xiaomi’s support page says it doesn’t support eSIM |
| Poco F7 | No | Xiaomi’s support page says no eSIM, stacked dual SIM slot |

Why do Indian and global Xiaomi specs differ?
Spec databases such as GSMArena keep separate pages for India variants. The Poco X7 is a good example: as per GSMArena, the India version carries a 5500 mAh battery against 5110 mAh on the global unit, and NFC is marked as market dependent. If a battery can differ, a SIM tray can too.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro and Pro+ show exactly how much this can matter. We checked Xiaomi India’s own specification pages for both. The Pro+ page spells it out: ‘Dual SIM (nano SIM + nano SIM or nano SIM + eSIM)’, with the usual eSIM disclaimer underneath. The plain Pro page, one step down, says only ‘Dual Sim’ and stops there, no eSIM mentioned anywhere on the page. One retail listing claims the plain Pro has eSIM too, but we’re going with Xiaomi’s own spec page over a retailer’s listing.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro and Pro+ cut the other way. GSMArena’s India-specific pages for both list ‘Nano-SIM + eSIM’ as an option, and three independent eSIM providers agree. But Xiaomi India’s own spec page for both just says ‘SIM Slot: Dual Nano’, with no eSIM mentioned. A manufacturer’s basic spec sheet leaving out a minor feature is more likely than three independent sources being wrong, so we’ve kept these as ‘Yes’ on the table above, but flagged it, because a unit you buy could well not have eSIM working as described.
Does the Redmi Note 15 Pro support eSIM in India?
No, as far as Xiaomi India’s own page goes. The Pro+ is confirmed by that same page to support nano SIM plus eSIM, but the plain Pro’s page only lists Dual SIM. One retail listing says otherwise for the plain Pro, so if eSIM genuinely matters to you, confirm with the seller or Xiaomi support before paying, but don’t assume it has eSIM just because the Pro+ does.
Is the Poco X7 Pro eSIM ready?
No. Xiaomi’s support page for the Poco X7 Pro says plainly that it doesn’t support eSIM. Don’t confuse it with the plain Poco X7, which does, so a phone that definately looks similar on a shop shelf can behave very differently.
How do you activate eSIM on a Xiaomi phone in India?
The process is run by your telecom operator, not by Xiaomi. Once your number is moved to an eSIM, you’ll recieve a QR code or profile by email, and you add it from your phone’s SIM settings. Keep your registered email ID ready and stay on stable Wi-Fi.
Jio
- Open the MyJio app, search for Switch to eSIM, and verify your email ID.
- Enter your phone’s EID, then confirm with the OTP sent to your number.
- Alternatively, send an SMS to 199 in the format GETESIM, then your 32-digit EID, then your 15-digit IMEI.
- Wait for the mandatory cooling period of about two hours and pick up the verification call.
Dial *#06# on your phone to see the EID and IMEI. Details are on Jio’s eSIM request page.
Airtel
- Send an SMS to 121 with the word eSIM followed by your registered email ID.
- Reply 1 to the confirmation SMS within 60 seconds.
- Scan the QR code that arrives by email and approve the consent call.
As per Airtel’s own eSIM guide, activation takes around two hours.
Vi
- Send an SMS to 199 with eSIM, your EID, a device code (1 for iOS, 2 for Android) and your email.
- Reply ESIMY within 15 minutes and answer the automated consent call.
- Download the eSIM profile from the email after 15 minutes.
Vi says SMS services, including OTPs, are barred for 24 hours after an eSIM request completes, and the service is unavailable in some circles such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, the North East and Assam. Check Vi’s eSIM page for the latest list. BSNL users can read our BSNL eSIM guide, and the general process is covered in how to get an eSIM in India.
Can a Xiaomi phone use two eSIMs in India?
On paper, some can. Xiaomi’s page for the Xiaomi 17 lists nano SIM plus eSIM or two eSIMs, and says dual SIM dual active is offered in India, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong. GSMArena lists the Poco X7 with up to two active at a time. How many eSIM profiles you can really use still depends on your operator and the exact variant. Our dual eSIM Android list goes deeper.
Which Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco phone should you pick if eSIM matters?
My reading of the data is simple. The Xiaomi 17, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ and the Poco X7 are the safest picks if eSIM matters to you, because Xiaomi India’s own pages confirm all three directly. The Redmi Note 14 Pro and Pro+ are a close second: GSMArena and three eSIM providers say yes, even though Xiaomi’s own basic spec sheet stays quiet on it. Skip the Poco X7 Pro and Poco F7 for this purpose, and dont buy the plain Redmi Note 15 Pro (without the Plus) for eSIM either, since Xiaomi India’s own page only lists Dual SIM for it. And keep atleast one physical SIM active until your eSIM is working, as the Vi bar on SMS can catch you out.

Need an eSIM for international travel too?
An eSIM-ready Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco phone can also carry a travel data plan abroad, so you can skip roaming packs. Compare plans before buying and check whether calls and SMS are included, because many travel eSIMs are data only. Make sure your Handset is unlocked and supports the eSIM first. Frequently asked questions
Does the Redmi Note 14 Pro support eSIM in India?
Likely yes, but sources disagree. GSMArena’s India listing shows Nano-SIM plus eSIM, and three eSIM providers agree, but Xiaomi India’s own spec page for this phone only says Dual Nano. The Note 14 Pro+ has the exact same split. Check the SIM settings on the actual unit before relying on it.
Does the Redmi Note 15 Pro support eSIM in India?
No, according to Xiaomi India’s own spec page, which lists only Dual SIM for this model. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is different: Xiaomi India’s page for that one confirms nano SIM plus eSIM directly. Don’t mix up the two.
Does the Poco X7 Pro support eSIM?
No. Xiaomi’s support page says the Poco X7 Pro doesn’t support eSIM. The standard Poco X7 does.
Does the Poco F7 support eSIM?
No. Xiaomi says the Poco F7 has a stacked dual SIM slot and no eSIM.
Does the Xiaomi 17 support eSIM in India?
Yes. Xiaomi India’s own specification page for the handset sold here lists ‘Dual SIM, eSIM support’ directly, and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s own FAQ names India among the markets where dual SIM dual active works.
How long does eSIM activation take on Jio, Airtel and Vi?
Jio mentions a cooling period of about two hours. Airtel says around two hours. Vi says you can download the profile after 15 minutes, though SMS stays barred for 24 hours.
Why does Xiaomi’s own page sometimes disagree with GSMArena on eSIM?
As per what we found checking both, Xiaomi India’s basic spec pages sometimes leave eSIM off the list even when GSMArena and multiple eSIM providers confirm it, most likely because eSIM isn’t treated as a headline feature worth listing. It isn’t proof either way on its own, so the safest check is still the one on your own handset: dial *#06# and look for Add eSIM in Settings.
Can I convert my existing SIM to eSIM on a Xiaomi phone?
Yes, if the exact model supports eSIM, your operator can move your number to an eSIM using the steps above. You will need your EID and a registered email ID.
